WHAT: Jovial Brown Rice Pasta
WHY: If you’re celiac, this is heaven sent. If you’re going gluten-free, the chew on this pasta might (will) change your life.
The main ingredient being brown rice doesn’t mean we can just pour whole boxes of this down our throats and feel good about our life choices. And alternatively, even though pasta has been vilified as the Bad Carb to end all Bad Carbs, we believe in eating it. Just like, occaysj.
Gloriously, Jovial makes their organic, brown rice pasta in a gluten-free environment (a thrill for true celiac sufferers) and it cooks down into a lovely, chewy bite - something that most alternative pastas don’t do. Especially ones made from chick peas.
The author of this post administered a sneaky taste test wherein she fed her starving family - comprised of a Midwestern husband who one might lovingly describe as “corn fed” and a 7-year-old child who has the palette of, well, a 7-year-old child – a Jovial-pasta version of something they’re fed a lot, which is homemade hamburger helper – made with all fresh ingredients, fresh herbs, and previously, with regular pasta. They both declared this version their favorite.
