These Shoes We Were Scared To Buy Are Making Us Look Unrecognizably Chic On A Daily Basis

WHY: We’re probably not supposed to say this when writing an article about clothes, but most days we don’t actually “style” our clothes. We just grab one cute thing, throw it on with jeans, and hope it will all work out somewhere between our closet and the front door.
And that is why we are BIG FANS of one-and-done pieces. Individual things you can just throw on that turn clothes into outfits. All. By. Themselves.
Enter our first ever pair of white loafers.
Never in our lives did we imagine we might be white loafer people. Maybe you haven’t either.
But these shoes from Quince singlehandedly changed our minds. And there are 4 reasons why:
1) Yes, they’re statementy but they’re grounded in something classic so we don’t feel like we’re just following some dumb trend.
2) They’re lug-sole, which means they have a magical way of not just disappearing and instead, balance all our outfits, especially any loose-fitting layers we wear on top.
3) They’re the most comfortable shoes we’ve slipped onto our feet other than sneakers since … ever?
4) They match with, but more importantly, elevate every otherwise boring outfit we wear.
Allow us to show you a few examples, starting with the most nothing outfit of them all - white sweater and ankle jeans.
Easy right? And chic. Try to imagine this same outfit with black flats. You probably can’t because it’s that boring.
Now how about we take a look at them with long, wide-leg jeans and your everyday white button down (aka our uniform on days we’re feeling bloated but still want to look put together)?
All these baggy layers would never work with a slight little, non-lug-sole shoe.
Ok, now how about with a jean jacket over an all-black, blend-into-the-background ensemble?
See how the whole thing becomes an outfit? And we feel like we’re in house clothes!
And finally, let’s gaze at how they make any black-and-white outfit (the chicest color combination by the way) sing.
The reasons why we’re all in on this particular loafer isn’t even just about looks. For starters, they’re made from 100% Italian nappa leather and are somehow half the price of similar style and quality loafers.
They have so much padding and cushioning and arch support that we wore them around the house the rest of the night after trying them on in pajamas because we forgot we weren’t in slippers.
The quality and comfort and shape are all so good, we’re definitely buying them in black as well, because they will immediately be our favorite black loafer.
But the white has rapidly become one of those irreplaceable things in our closet that make us seem like we know what we’re doing when it comes to looking chic and styled and original without us having to put in an ounce of effort.
