This Is The No Smudge, One-And-Done Eyeshadow We’ve Been Praying For
When we do try eyeshadow, we always reach for ones with creamy consistency because powders tend to make our wrinkles look even MORE wrinkley which is not the point of any makeup. But the drawback there is that our eyelids are usually creased by 11 am. So then we try setting it with loose powder and end up look even more like a crypt-keeper. So then we just wash it all off and remember exactly why we hate/don’t wear eyeshadow.
Guess what. We have news. Big news. Especially given that literally NONE of our round ups ever have eyeshadows because we hate all of them always.
Until today.
And perhaps you already know what we’re going to say but the brilliant cats over at Merit finally FINALLY solved this for us with their new Solo Shadow cream-to-powder eyeshadows.
Not too many shades to feel overwhelmed by, great price, can be used with fingers or a brush, designed to be used as a ONE color wash (meaning no blending out multiple colors), creamy at first, but then they dry down softly, and, most importantly, they. do. not. smudge.
No really. Not a lick. Not a wink. And yes, you will definitely need eye makeup remover to get them off, or your fave thick cleansing balm will do the trick.
And now, the colors. Because if they don’t get this right, all those other features sort of don’t matter. We did one of those influencer things and “swatched” all of the colors on our arm for you to see in natural light.
We are partial to vachetta—used with a fluffy brush on our lids and under our lashes in a harried rush each morning. It gives a lovely, lived-in haze. Midnight is also lovely used with a smaller brush, scribbled just at the roots of the lash for some definition that will not budge. But really, choose the color you’re drawn to. They all behave basically as neutrals so no matter your skin or eye color, you can’t mess up.
Many colors frequently sell out, so we included a link to Merit’s direct site along with Sephora.
