We Tried 36 Shampoos So Far in 2024 And This Is The Best One. Hands Down.
WHAT: Ouai Fine, Medium, and Thick Hair Shampoo
WHY: We wish to GOD that the winner was some $4 generic shampoo from CVS. That’s our favorite “this one’s the best” kind of product to discover.
But alas.
This shampoo is from a sort of trendy brand.
With gorgeous packaging.
And it smells utterly, utterly divine.
But you have to believe us that it’s truly unbelievable because we are obsessed with finding an everyday shampoo that makes our hair weightless but bouncy, soothes our scalp, keeps grease at bay, enriches frazzled ends, and creates zero buildup.
And? After what feels like a lifetime of testing, we found it.
It’s Ouai. And it’s spectacular.
So first of all, the shampoo is, well, perfect. It’s gentle, it lathers like a beast, works well with color-treated hair, and they only make 3 core shampoos—fine, medium, and thick. Sometimes fewer options is more thrilling, yes? We don’t have to decipher 47 different things, feel confused, and give up. Here’s some fun words about each:
Fine hair: Full of keratin and biotin and chia seed oil for shine but ZERO heaviness.
Medium hair: Extremely hydrating with kumquat extract and coconut and babassu oils.
Thick hair: Shea butter deeply moisturizes, avocado oil knocks back frizz, and marshmallow root detangles.
AND, they make giant refill pouches which you will absolutely get after trying this shampoo once.
Oh, they also do a DETOX shampoo which we love to use once a week, and a DANDRUFF shampoo which is excellent.
Do we love the conditioner as well? We do. We tend to love a set of shampoo and conditioner, but we still use THIS once a week without fail. The. Best.
And while we’re here, they recently launched an Anti-Frizz crème that we have been using exclusively on wet hair this summer and NOTHING has kept frizz at bay while creating that sort of beachy texture while being UTTERLY weightless.
