9 Expensive-Looking Home Dupes In Our Amazon Carts That Are Extremely Affordable

by The Candidly Team

We all want to have a chic home that’s warm yet modern and perfectly put together yet deeply cozy and non-intimidating. Right?

And we all walk around feeling some level of dejection that we probably can’t afford to fully furnish such a home. Right again?

Well, we have an idea for you. And it’s not to just buy a bunch of junk on Amazon and pretend it’s as good as the real thing.

But it is to buy certain things on Amazon that make your home look more expensive and, dare we say, are almost indecipherable from their designer counterparts.

Now, before you get all skeptic and accuse us of doing exactly what we just said we’re not going to do, let us explain why these specific pieces work.

1) Scale: These are not tiny little tchotchkes that make your house look cluttered and uncurated.

2) Warmth: Yes, they’re contemporary but not in a cold, don’t-touch-anything way. In a romantic and inviting way.

3) Timelessness: Every one of these pieces makes sense in a modern home but is grounded in something classic. So no dumb trends.

Ok, so now that we have our criteria laid out, let’s see the 9 dupes that made our hearts pound and our Pinterest boards seem possible.

  1. THE OVERSIZED ARCH MIRROR

As far as we’re concerned, this mirror is the chic, modern-day answer to ’80s closet door mirrors. Sure, they were hideous, but man was it nice to be able to see our full selves sashay about in an outfit? And this mirror is the opposite of hideous. Sleek. Versatile. The perfect low-maintenance answer to what the hell do I put on that big, blank wall. Plop a nice floor plant or a big, gorgeous vase next to it, and boom, you’ve made it your own. The one on the left is from Crate & Barrel and costs $800 but there are versions of this mirror that run into the thousands, so finding an identical version on Amazon at this size for this price thrilled us enough to march it straight to the top of this list.

2. THE LEATHER THROW PILLOW

Okay, don’t come at us if your couch is covered in floral quote pillows, but one place many of us are guilty of making our homes look less chic is by choosing busy, cheap-looking throw pillows. That said, we aren’t about to spend almost $300 on something our kid is gonna kick onto the floor on a nightly basis. One trick is to choose “nicer” looking materials and simpler, neutral colors and patterns, which makes our decor come off more luxe and expensive. We appreciate that these half white, half leather throw covers are clean and contemporary but still feel warm and inviting. We also appreciate that our dupe is 10x less expensive, and we can’t even tell it apart from the real thing.

3. THE WASHABLE AREA RUG

An 8X10 rug that’s soft and lovely and WASHABLE for $120 felt too good to be true. So we went straight to the customer photos and videos in the review section and welp, we were sold.

4. THE VIRAL VASE

We love when something Pinterest-worthy also speaks to our quirk. This vase is kind of magical in that it makes stark, modern rooms look softer and more interesting and boho spaces look more of-the-moment and sleek. We believe the word is balance. And all we had to do was set down a vase.

5. THE STATEMENT SWIVEL CHAIR

Whenever we see a photo of one of those cozy living rooms with lush throw blankets and big, beautiful candles nested on the coffee table, we see green. Literally. Because there always seems to be this olive armchair, just waiting to be read a book in. And we get why. The shape alone makes a whole room look gorgeous and elevated. Honestly, it’s good in every color, but there’s something about that olive that just takes it to a whole new level of library-chic. Is that a thing? Let’s all make it a thing.

6. THE TEXTURED CANDLE DUO

Oh look, we also found the enviable candles. One little tip when decorating with accessories is to spring for scale. A small candle, no matter how attractive up close, is gonna get lost in most spaces in your home, even the smallest ones. Instead of cluttering with a bunch of trinkets trying to fill the space, pick one or two things you love in a bigger size and let them work their minimalist magic. These candles make a room look minimalist and romantic - kind of our dream combo.

7. THE COZY PLAID THROW

Every year, we lust after another pattern of this alpaca throw from The Citizenry, and we will say if you’re up for a splurge, it really is worth it. But this beauty on the right is not some cheap, flimsy dupe you’ll throw away in a year. It’s an alpaca wool blend and OEKO-TEX certified, which ensures it's free from harmful chemicals. And just look how dreamy it is. Perfect for warming up the house for fall.

8. THE SHALLOW CERAMIC BOWL SET

All we ever want to eat from is a big, shallow pasta bowl that’s pretty enough to stack on an exposed shelf and pretend we’re in a Nancy Meyers movie kitchen. Is that too much to ask? Well, for $37, we’re making our own dreams come true. Wheeee!

9. THE GOLD FLATWARE

We’re not 100% sure, but we highly suspect that if we were to set a holiday table with the above dishes and this set of silverware, we might officially have our shit together. No? Maybe not, but it makes us happy, and isn’t that the entire point of decorating our home?
