Leaders, great cooks, doctors, parents, writers; people who inspire us.

Today, we’re highlighting Emily Hochman, founder of Wellory, a science-backed app focused on helping users create sustainable, healthy eating habits.

The Candidly Questionnaire

1. What’s your most compelling quality?

I have a lot of energy. Like, a lot. This helps me stay positive, work long hours, and keep those around me uplifted.

2. What’s your worst quality, according to your friends?

Since I have so much energy, I work non-stop, and usually put work above any and all social plans.

3. What’s an overrated value you don’t buy into?

Perfection.

4. How do you feel about cilantro?

I love it! Especially in guacamole.

5. Are essential oils anything?

I keep lavender oil in my bathroom cabinet and it helps me if I need an extra boost.

6. What's the most effective beauty trick you know?

A Gua Sha for my face and lymphatic drainage paddle for my body.

7. How do you get your self-esteem?

This comes from my upbringing, so a big thanks to my parents for teaching me what self-esteem means.

8. What meal can you make the hell out of?

I make a mean sautéed vegetable dish. My go to is EVOO, zucchini, beets, garlic, onion, and kale.

9. How do you handle conflict in your closest relationships?

I’m a big talker, so I try to talk everything out.

10. What’s something you’ve changed your mind about in the last year?

Setting boundaries between work, friends, family, relationships, personal care and mental health.

11. Who is someone in your field of work that you admire?

Katrina Lake is my dream dinner date.

12. What Insta account speaks to you deeply?

@moonomens.

13. What quote or phrase has stayed with you?

“Don’t quit.” This is something I subscribe to every single day, and truly believe in the power of continuing to grow, learn and evolve. As long as you don’t quit, you will figure out what steps you need to take to get to where you need to be.

14.  What’s your favorite movie from the last ten years?

P.S. I Love You. I can’t get through it without crying.

15. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned about yourself as a leader?

I lead with emotion.

16. What’s the most delicious bite of food you’ve ever had?

Minetta Tavern bone marrow.

17. Is social media ruining our brains?

Only if you let it.

18. Describe your actual bedtime routine.

Wash my face (thank you Drunk Elephant), brush my teeth, get into my Eberjey pjs, and then cuddle with my puppy, Rupert. I’m working on reducing screen time before bed, but to be honest, I’m not that good at it yet.

19.  What’s your relationship with bangs?

Had them once in high school and loved them, but they’ll stay in sophomore year.
