14 Questions With Agatha Relota Luczo

by The Candidly Team

This article is part of our series called "People We Like," in which we highlight interesting women, across all walks of life.

Leaders, great cooks, doctors, parents, writers; people who inspire us.

Today, we’re featuring Agatha Relota Luczo, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of the beloved clean skincare brand Furtuna Skin. If you’ve spent more than a minute around here, there’s a 97% chance you’ve heard us mention their “golden” potion - the Due Alberi Biphase Moisturizing Oil. And for good reason…It’s magic!

The Candidly Questionnaire

1. What’s an overrated value you don’t buy into?

Perfectionism. Embracing imperfections and learning from mistakes can be more valuable for personal growth and overall well-being.

2. Are essential oils anything?

They are. Natural essential oils can function as active ingredients in skincare. We use magnolia oil at very low levels in our Biphase Moisturizing Oil and Replenishing Balm to soothe and nourish all skin types. Its soft, aromatic heart also calms stressed minds.

3. What's the most effective beauty trick you use?

There’s the commonly held belief that skincare should be applied from thinnest to thickest, but when my skin is dehydrated after a long flight, I apply our Biphase Moisturizing Oil after applying our Daily Renewal Cream onto damp skin. It really ramps up the moisture!

(Sidenote: Agatha and her team at Furtuna were kind enough to give us a code to share with you for 20% off on Furtuna. Use code CANDIDLY20.)

4. How do you get your self-esteem?

One way is by practicing self-care. Taking time for yourself and engaging in activities that promote your well-being and happiness. Things like practicing gratitude, meditation, engaging in activities you enjoy, pampering yourself with self-care rituals.  By prioritizing oneself, you can nurture your self-esteem and overall sense of self-worth.

5. What meal do you dream of?

Fresh pasta with homemade pesto sauce! I love fresh basil and olive oil together.  I am dreaming of one day trying Chef Pino Cuttaia's dishes. His restaurant, La Madia in Licata, is a bastion of Sicilian cuisine, and every dish is made from the freshest, seasonal ingredients.

6. What’s your favorite (non-living) thing in your house right now?

My Leica camera. I love capturing the magical moments of our children growing up.

7. How do you handle conflict in your closest relationships?

I try to avoid conflict when I can, but I do believe in never going to bed angry and being direct about expressing your thoughts and feelings. It’s also important to be a good listener and be respectful.

8. What’s your most compelling quality?

I always try to see the best in everyone and every situation.

9. If you could only follow one account on social media, who would it be?

Dr. Will Cole

10. What’s something you’ve changed your mind about in the past year?

I wouldn’t say I have changed my mind about many things in the past year.  Instead, I am always looking to expand it and grow and learn from experience and the passing of time.

11. What do you do to get into a flow state?

Exercise and dance. I love ballroom and Latin dancing, in particular. When that’s not an option, I walk, go to the gym, or do a Melissa Wood Health class.

12. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned about yourself as a leader?

To always trust your intuition.

13. Is social media ruining everything?

Like most things in life, it depends on how you use it.

14. No one is home. Nothing is due. Emails are answered. You have the day blessedly to yourself. What do you do?

I’m based in Paris right now, so I love walking around the city, going to a café, and enjoying a good book. Then I would head to Sophie Carbonari for a facial, followed by Suisen, which offers incredible treatments inspired by 'shiatsu.'
