If you’re reading this right now, we’re guessing you might be deep in the throes of curl-up-on-the-couch season. Maybe you’re there right now, cocooned in some dream-spun sweater or digging out an arm from a weighted knit blanket to reach the remote.

There’s even a chance you’re putting on one of the 15 movies or TV shows that we’ve gathered here, not because they themselves are iconic (although, to be fair, some are), but because they brought us some of the most iconic, lust-worthy coats of all-time.

And since (eventually), you will have to leave the couch and go outside and face the cold, we found a contemporary counterpart to each of these triumphant coats. At prices that are not insane. But that kill it on quality.

A truly divine coat tends to be one of the wardrobe essentials we’re willing to spend a bit more on. We love them, because they channel all the warm, cozy vibes of our couch, but also because they are just so easily and impossibly chic.

Because as much as most of us would be perfectly content to spend most of our time like this.

We can’t pretend we don’t occasionally want to feel like this.

1. cameron’s fur-lined coat in the holiday

When we weren’t lusting after her high-tech L.A. home, we were pretty much just drooling over her coats. The fur. The cuts. The detail. The way that they somehow made thick, warm winter outerwear into a sleek, slimming silhouette. Because we can be obsessive, we even found this replica of her black and white coat pictured atop this article. But we were honestly floored when we found a dupe for what is maybe the most luxe coat on our list. And yet we really, truly did, and it happens to be one of the most affordable.

Venus Faux-Suede-And-Fur Coat

If you’re looking to deeply invest in practically an exact replica of the original, be our guest here. But this light, faux fur and suede coat from Venus is pretty much perfection.

Price: $119

2. kerry’s houndstooth coat in scandal

Like many before us, we could go on and on about the breathtaking coats worn in episode after episode of Scandal. But this one stood out for being both statement and still so wearable. Houndstooth may be the one true neutral print, which means we could literally wear this with everything we’re already wearing in the cooler months.

Bernardo Wrap Coat

We were won over by wide collar and the wrap style of this gorgeous houndstooth coat. The fit makes it so easy to layer, while still cinching at the waist for the most flattering silhouette.

Price: $229

3. gwyneth’s fur coat in the royal tenenbaums

If you could play a recording of the exact moment we all first laid eyes on this coat, the collective gasp would be deafening. It still takes our breath away. Wear whatever you want underneath. Just don’t skimp on eyeliner.

Apparis Bree Faux Fur Coat

This is the modern, actually wearable equivalent of our Tenenbaum dream coat. The cut and length work with anything layered underneath (from holiday dresses to literal leggings). Most importantly, it can be dressed up or down, so, like Margot, we can wear it ALL the time.

Price: $295

4. sarah jessica’s long black coat in sex in the city

Of all the vibrant coats she wore on the show, we have to credit Carrie for maybe having the best long black coat we’ve seen on screen. I mean…

Favorite Daughter The Simon Coat

This coat has a perfect line and flatters every curve we have, while still giving us enough room to feel completely cozy. It’s an heirloom piece we’ll wear forever, which saves us from buying 5 others that we’ll never love as much.

Price: $595

5. NAOMI’S CREAM Coat IN THE WATCHER

The Watcher contains one of those wardrobes where even people who have never seen the show have seen the clothes. Which is why, in a cashmere-shrouded stupor, we found dupes for every amazing thing Naomi wore. But the coat was certainly a centerpiece. And we’re so in love with the one we found, we can’t shut up about it.

Marcella Mallory Coat

The cut of this cream-colored coat makes it one of the most easily wearable on our list, and yet somehow, maybe also the chicest? And while we can’t see the back of Naomi’s coat, we’re sure it must have a hood as gorgeous as this one.

Price: $378

6. jennifer’s leather jacket IN out of sight

A fitted leather jacket is the perfect way to add a bit of edge, but it’s also probably one of the most flattering things we can wear. Because it does such a good job elevating an outfit, it made the cut for the only 9 closet items that we actually need to splurge on. Plus, it never wears out, so we can keep it forever. Which is exactly why we chose this timeless cut.

Quince 100% Washed Leather Biker Jacket

The quality and detail in this jacket are next level. And then there’s the price!

Price: $170

7. Nicole’s belted wool coat from the undoing

The costume designer seemingly took a long trip around the color wheel, picking out insane, eye-catching coats one-by-one for Nicole Kidman in The Undoing. We chose this one, because the color is so rich, but the shape is completely classic and flattering, which makes it something we will actually wear year after year.

Ted Baker Rrosiey

Wool Coat With Oversized Collar

The jewel-toned cranberry color is exactly right. But once again, we have selected a silhouette that is so complementary and comfortable, we know it will be an instant staple in our closet… without being black, white, or beige.

Price: $291

8. diana’s perfect trench in mahogany

Is there a better collective wardrobe than the one stunningly sported by Diana Ross in Mahogany? This coat though. This one swept through the screen and lingered in our mind. If ever, there was any way we could recreate such a glam look. But wait, there are two.

Theory Oaklane Trench Coat

This one may be more of a “splurge,” but no coat we’ve seen has captured that swingy, yet structured shape that we loved so much about the original. Plus, it’s made in Theory’s signature Japanese Admiral Crepe, which is what makes it so smooth and wrinkle-resistant.

Price: $635

Able Irena Trench Jacket

This one may be more “affordable,” but it’s equally chic. We love that it’s light and breezy, so we can create that sweeping, cinematic movement as we do glamorous things like walk our dog at 6AM, while still wearing our pajamas underneath.

Price: $58

9. lily’s pink coat from emily in paris

Right, so this is clearly not our usual demo. But c’mon, a bold, hot pink need not be reserved for our 20s… or for Paris for that matter. Especially not when it’s done in such a classic, appealing way that looks great on everyone. We’re not going to tell you when and where to wear it or whether it’s for you, but sometimes we just plain love a pink coat. And we get why you would, too.

Karen Millen Italian Virgin Wool Double Investment Notch Neck Coat

The tied waist and chic collar make this coat wildly cozy and extra flattering. Its perfectly vibrant hot pink hue is balanced by its classic shape.

Price: $453

10. rené’s wool coat in the thomas crown affair

Again, the entire wardrobe in this movie was all people could talk about when it came out. We’ve even gone on and on about it ourselves here (#14). And now that it’s been a minute, we can safely say, the hype was deserved, because every single look still smolders. But this coat could be our favorite. We never stopped wanting this coat.

Rails Everest Coat

The boxy, open shape and oversized pockets give this classic coat so much character. It’s also not too long, which we love, because we can wear it with layers for extra warmth or on its own year-round.

Price: $398

11. kerry’s shawl coat in scandal

Do we even have to explain ourselves or can this picture say everything we’re thinking? Fine. 7 words. We want to live in this coat.

Aggi Coat Mischa Nomad

The very idea of a scarf or shawl-like coat is genius to us “cozy” people. This one is for those who like to bundle themselves up. And it’s so fun and chic. Can you imagine any coat in eyeshot being more playfully gorgeous than this one?

Price: $428

12. edie’s fur in the sopranos

Who didn’t want to recreate the thick, dreamy, drapiness of this fur look on Mrs. Soprano?

Tularosa Charlie Teddy Faux Fur Jacket

Ok, we know this isn’t exactly the same as Carmela’s, but it’s something she would absolutely buy today. It’s a form of lushness we can actually wear.

Price: $254

13. julia’s leather jacket in notting hill

We’re willing to debate which item of clothing stole the show in Notting Hill, but the slightly longer leather jacket that fits almost like a blazer has definitely stood the test of time. We love the way it dresses up our basics and fits like a glove. Pure, effortless chicness. Which is the only way we can do it most days.

LBLC The Label Toby Blazer

We’re obsessed with the way this one fits. For an extended size range, we love THIS one.

Price: $254

14. jennifer’s double-breasted peacoat in maid in manhattan

Less believable than the Cinderella storyline of this movie was the notion that this coat was stolen from a hotel guest and not sewn by an expensive tailor to perfectly fit a lovely Jennifer Lopez. But some coats do sort of seem to just come forth and fit perfectly on every body. Here’s a more modern version we like for that reason.

Karl Lagerfield Paris Wool Blend Double Breasted Coat

Just pure, clean, structured sophistication. All the things we loved about Jennifer’s coat minus the quadruple-digit price tag.

Price: $250

15. EVERY INSANE COAT SLUNG ONTO A DESK BY MIRANDA PRIESTLY

Fur, fur, and oh look, more fur.

Ted Baker Liliam Faux Fur Jacket

“Find me that piece of paper I had in my hand yesterday morning.”

Price: $170

Maje Double-Faced Faux Fur Coat

“Please bore someone else with your questions.”

Price: $576

Kooples Leopard Print Faux Fur Coat

“That’s all.”

Price: $615

bonus: julia’s completely cozy red-carpet coat

We know, we’re cheating. This wasn’t worn by a character in a movie or a show, but we figured red carpet was close enough. And we couldn’t not dupe this amazing coat.

alo Oversized Sherpa Trench

The plush, coziness of this trench are only upped by that amazing collar. This is the one we’re wearing ALL. WINTER. LONG.

Price: $298
