Meika Hollender is a sexuality expert and advocate for vaginas everywhere.

She’s the co-founder and President of Sustain, a wellness brand that makes sexual health products like paraben-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO condoms and 100% organic cotton tampons and pads.

Meika also write a book called Get on Top: Of Your Pleasure, Sexuality & Wellness: A Vagina Revolution, an idea we can 100% get behind.

We like Meika.

And we had to know about her favorite products, her phobias, and her thoughts on feminism.

So we asked. And she delivered.

The Candidly Questionnaire

1. In a word, what is your most compelling quality?

Humor.

2. In a word, what is your biggest challenge?

Patience.

3. What kitchen tool do you use every single day and kind of can’t live without?

Coffee maker.

4.  When do you feel most connected with yourself?

Dancing alone in the morning.

5. Are essential oils anything?

No.

6. Do you struggle at all with boundaries? How?

Yes. I tend to try and solve other people’s problems, so it’s hard for me to respect others’ boundaries.

7. How do you dampen self-critical thoughts when they get too loud?

Even though I put a lot of pressure on myself, I’m actually not very self-critical in terms of my conscious thoughts. I think my self-criticism happens at a more subconscious level.

8. Describe the most “you” outfit of all time.

White t-shirt, Levi’s high waisted straight leg jeans, black boots, leather jacket, gold hoops.

9. What meal can you make the hell out of?

Roast chicken.

10. What book has made the biggest impact on your life?

Girls & Sex by Peggy Orenstein.

11. Apart from family, what woman do you deeply admire?

Cecile Richards.

12. Why does the word “feminist” get people so wound up?

Because the idea that women deserve to be equal citizens, and contribute to society and the world equally to men, is really hard for many people to grasp due to centuries of being taught otherwise.

13. Which Insta account’s stories do you always tap through until the end?

@archdigest

@travelandleisure

@nytcooking

@sustain

14.  Do you think social media’s good qualities outweigh the bad?

Yes.

15.  What quote or phrase has really stayed with you?

Don’t let the urgent replace the important.

16.  Do you have a phobia? How do you deal?

Yes, I have misophonia. It means that I get triggered by sounds like people chewing ice and slurping soup. If you know someone who has dealt with this successfully, please let me know.

17.  How do you feel about cilantro?

Into it.

18.  Describe, in detail, your perfect bedtime routine.

Starts with a 20 minute bath, a lit candle, whatever book I’m reading, and no phone. Then, wash my face, put on my face oil, and miraculously have the inspiration to moisturize my entire body (which never happens). Then, slip into my Sleepy Jones nightgown, and watch my favorite show with my husband (which, at the moment, is Mrs. America).

19.  What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever read on the internet?

How seahorses give birth.

20.  What’s your relationship with bangs?

 I don’t have one.
