This Dumb TikTok Trend Might Just Be The Yummiest Dinner For Fat Loss And It Has 64 Grams Of Protein. Yes. 64.
by Audie Metcalf
Yes. Fine. I’m on TikTok. I pretend it’s “for my job” but really I just love TikTok.
I find the best workouts like this.
The best easy dinner ideas like this.
The best healthy shamrock shake recipes like this.
The best overall content like this.
And sometimes something becomes so insanely wildly popular that it makes its way to all of our FYP (look at me knowing the terms) and it becomes impossible to ignore.
In the last month or so, that’s been this, the viral cottage cheese, ground beef, sweet potato bowls. There are thousands upon thousands of them like THIS, THIS, and THIS and one night I just had to try one in what can only be described as a frenzy.
It’s very easy. Ridiculously so. It’s barely a recipe but I’ll lay it out here. For one serving:
Half a pound of ground beef with some taco seasoning and water (I use Laura’s 96/4 because the calories are the lowest I have ever found for ground beef and it’s still amazingly delicious. I find mine at Target or Ralph’s)
Half a sweet potato, cubed (I micro mine but you could of course air fry or roast)
Half a cup of cottage cheese (Good Culture obvs)
Half an avocado
A handful of sliced purple cabbage
Some sliced red onion
Mike’s Hot Honey (or regular honey is fine if you don’t like heat, though try to get THIS honey which has profound health benefits)
Total calories: 638
Total protein: 64 grams
Here’s the cal breakdown because I feel like this is helpful to see:
And of course, the money shot:
And the lovely thing about this dinner is that if you have higher or lower calorie intake goals you can very easily lower the amounts of any of the ingredients—though I don’t recommend leaving out the sweet potatoes entirely because they’re crucial for keeping you full.
I consider myself quite cheffy. I didn’t think I’d stoop to some lowbrow social media trend. And yet, here we are. When I tell you this bowl is delicious, I can barely put into words how delicious it is. I would have never thought I’d be dreaming of how honey and beef taste together, but I do. I dream of this meal. I’m dreaming of it right now and wondering if my family will hate me if I make it two nights in a row.
Try it. You’ll see. And when they ask where you found the recipe you can tell them it’s from us, not TikTok. And save yourself the shame.
