This Brand You've Never Heard Of Is Making Gorgeous Dresses And Sets

But there’s a catch…

“Going out clothes” are sort of hard.

Even when we do find a dress that fits us in the exact ways we want it to, it’s usually in some hideous print we’re forced to settle for…or something very standard like black.

Always black.

So after seeing Alex Snodgress of The Defined Dish wearing a gorgeous, orange-checked set on her insta story, we scrambled to see where she got it, which is where we discovered our new, favorite place for pretty dresses at affordable prices:

It’s called RESA.

Flattering fits. Stunning prints. Chic cuts. All thoughtfully made in Los Angeles and almost every one less than $200.

Now listen. We are not a huge fan of the branding. Or the styling. It’s actually amazing how much these things matter when deciding if we want to buy something or not, but if you can see past their more-Gen-Z-than-Gen-X look and feel, you’ve probably found the brand you’ll visit every time you have a wedding, an event, a fancy party, etc. etc. etc., until the end of time.

We did the curation work for you, however, and found the 9 prettiest pieces on their entire site.

Let’s dive in.

1. Kaitlyn Midi

We often find ourselves drawn to dresses that are framing and sleek only to hate everything about them once we put them on and realize they’re essentially skintight. This A-line midi feels like the ideal solution. It’s floaty enough that it skims our belly but doesn’t flare out so much that it makes our hips looks twice as wide. The skinny spaghetti strap and swoopy neckline are also so flattering on arms and shoulders. And like every dress on this list, it’s machine washable.

Price: $78

2. Mandi Dress

Yes, you can wear a strapless bra with it, but the paneled bodice, smocked back, and adjustable straps are designed to make it extra supportive all by itself. Wear it to a wedding or throw on a jean jacket and sneaks, and you’re set for pretty much any day of the week.

Price: $178

3. Bridget Maxi

Let’s face it, we all want to live in sacks…but cute sacks. Like THESE! Or this dress, which is the perfect choice for hot days where we require zero restriction round our waist. But the skinny straps and gorgeous low back make us look chic and summery and not at all like we’ve given up entirely. You might even call it sexy(ish).

Price: $220

4. Lily Slip

If we still haven’t convinced you a strapless dress will look excellent on your arms, here is their same dreamy slip dress, only this time with straps. And we’ll admit, those straps do look just as good, framing our neckline and shoulders. Plus, it’s practically crying out to be worn with this, our favorite piece of going-out outerwear.

Price: $138

5. Charlie Dress

We know we said we weren’t looking for another black dress, but that was up until the moment we found this black dress. Again, a curve-complementing bias cut skirt but this time with the prettiest v-neckline, both in front and back. It’s a flawless staple we can keep turning to for black-tie things...without footing a single dry cleaning bill.

Price: $148

6. Anna Slip

We will go to our grave standing by the statement that strapless is actually THE most flattering cut, especially on a thick arm. And this dress ups the entire gorgeous fit level by adding a bias cut skirt. Note: if you’re ever wondering why the hell a certain fitted skirt looks so much better on your curves than others, the answer is probably a bias cut. The whole thing makes this dress maaaaybe our favorite on this list. Its skimming and smoothing shape gives us those long, clean lines, but we get to feel as cozy as is we were wearing a nightgown. It comes in a sea of pretty prints and solids. We love the pattern of “Frida” but are finding ourselves very drawn to “Dragonfruit.”

Price: $138

7. Noelle Maxi

If cut-outs scare you, all we can say to you is…same. To be fair, they are getting increasingly off the rails, particularly for those of us with big boobs or thick thighs or squishy parts of ourselves that like to plot their escape through any hole thrown their way. However, we’re also big believers in balance, and we deeply appreciate the way this dress adds a long sleeve and flowy maxi-length skirt that gives us such a pretty hourglass that we hardly notice it showing some skin on our sides. In fact, we sort of love it. And if you don’t trust the tie-front to be your own bra, we recommend THIS.

Price: $168

8. Ashley Midi

Why more style things aren’t blessedly smocked, we cannot say. Nothing is more flattering. Nothing is more comfortable. This is the dress we vote most likely to be worn every fourth day throughout the summer. With THESE naturally.

Price: $96 - $138

9. Monica Blouse And Sasha Trouser

If there is one thing RESA is doing with as much joyful brilliance as their dresses, it’s their spacious silky sets. Ok, so maybe we’re not wearing ours to a wedding, but then again, maybe we are. They’re just that much fun.

Price: $98 for the blouse, $138 for the pants
