The Only 6 Shoes We’re Wearing This Fall

Every single one has made us chicer humans.

by The Candidly Team

Lots of times we get dressed in 3-4 items of clothing we really like and for some reason, the whole outfit is a disappointment.

It drives us crazy trying to understand what went wrong. But after a thorough investigation, we’ve concluded that in 87% of cases it’s this: the shoes.

Get the shoes wrong and the whole outfit is just off. And this is why every single season we have about half a dozen shoes that we turn to constantly because they don't just complete every outfit, they make it better.

This fall, there are 6 shoes we’re pretty much wearing exclusively. They’re gorgeous. They’re comfortable. They make us look masterful at knowing how to style our clothes.

And here they are (along with two bonuses that are a bit more niche but just as thrilling):

1. The Most Mindblowingly Comfortable Boot  We've Found In 40 Years Of Searching

Vivaia Almond-Toe Running Heel Boots (Amanda)

Up until this pair, we’d never even imagined a boot could be this comfortable. It has support, cushioning, and breathability that we’d only ever experienced in a tennis shoe. We can walk in these boots. We can run in these boots. They are, without exaggeration, the most comfortable boots we have ever worn. And we feel this same comfort 11 hours into our day when we have no desire to take them off. All that said, they have the perfect, sleek silhouette that looks luxe and gives extra oomph to all our fall outfits. The whole package, my friends. If you can’t stand having achy, unhappy feet, you need these boots.

Price: $159

2. The Elegant Ballet Flat That Turns Our Dumb Jeans Into Sophisticated Fits

Margaux The Demi Jane

We’ve tried every version of a Mary Jane ballet flat, because it’s the easiest/ loveliest shoe to have on hand. You can wear them with baggy jeans and a massive tucked sweater, and you’ll look as street-style savvy as Katie Holmes and as elegant as Audrey Hepburn. This one from Margaux is the clear winner. The color selection is something out of a dream (our new favorite is actually the leopard mesh kicking off this article), but it’s the hidden support inside that made us want these shoes in every color they ever come out with.

3. The Loafer That Elevates Every Look While Feeling Like A Tennis Shoe

Quince Italian Leather Lug Sole Loafer

A lug-sole is unexpectedly useful in two key ways:

1) It has height, which means you yourself gain height.

2) It works better than flats with every length of pants and jeans which, if not styled correctly, can make your legs looks shorter.

These Italian loafers are so cushioned, like pillows on your feet, arch support for days. Black is a staple but the white has been wildly fun to style with our many black and white outfits.

5. The Most Divine Slingback We Wear To Dress Up With Zero Foot Pain

Madewell The Davina Slingback Pump

Date nights, holiday parties, a-little-more-than-casual work events. All of these are occasions we now look fervently forward to just so we can slip on these shoes. They feel dressy because of the shape and patent leather, not to mention gorgeous toe cleavage, but the heel is low, so people who truly cannot bear a tall heal under any circumstances (us!) feel very seen.

Price: $158

5. The Admittedly Trendy Tennis Shoe That We're Forced To Admit Just Makes Clothes Looks Better

Adidas Gazelle Shoes

We know you know all about this shoe. It has certainly veered into trend territory but the truth is, it’s so classic and slim and perfect with any jeans, any skirt, half of our dresses, we just couldn’t be more pleased that we gave in. We’re showing you the fig because it’s a fun fall color but you can always do black and white which we did below with a very similar style that’s since sold out.

It’s such a great shoe to add a little casj to our cashmere looks. You can find that very similar black and white pair specifically HERE.

Price: $120

6. The Stunning Party Shoe That Doesn't Kill Our Feet

Margaux The Platform Sandal

We’d basically given up on heels. We are just impossible babies when it comes to even an ounce of foot pain. But when we discovered Margaux, we started to love heels again. The comfort is extraordinary. The block heel is stabilizing, so we feel steady and in control, but also like we can conquer the world because we are unquestionably wearing the prettiest heels in the room. In fact, they’re so hassle-free to wear, we do it during the daytime looking something like this:

Nevertheless, as a party shoe, it can’t be beat.

Price: $275

BONUS: TWO VERY SPECIAL BOOTS

The Boots For Those Of Us Who Are Already Very Chilly

Quince Australian Shearling Mid-Calf Boot

Same Australian Shearling. Same incredible warmth. Just half the price of that other brand.

Price: $80

The Wildcard Boot That We Might Love More Than Anything In Our Closet RN

Beek Grouse Slouchy Suede Boot

We fully admit, these boots are an investment but if you’re a unique soul who is taken by their shape and maybe hates the ankle suctioning feeling of many booties, this pair from Beek is a genuine dream. Beautiful to look at when you happen to glance down at your feet. One-of-a-kind in terms of personality. Heavenly in terms of comfort.
