If You’re Always Snacky But Loathe Making Yourself Food Having These 9 Tools In Your Kitchen Will Change Your Life

We no longer fear our sweet tooth because of #5.

by The Candidly Team

We don’t hate eating healthy. We hate making ourselves healthy food. The rinsing. The chopping. The storing. The washing. We’re dripping with fatigue just thinking about it.

And so, we find ourselves ordering in and reaching for the salty, sugary, highly-processed, ultra-addictive things that come in a package. And guess what? 20 minutes later, we’re still hungry.

We had two missions when writing this article:

  1. Talk about things that made us feel less snacky.

  2. Talk about things that made us feel more satisfied and satiated.

And listen, for all the dumb, impulsive things we’ve bought in our lives there is an equal and opposite number of things we refused to buy forever and when we finally did, we kicked ourselves for not buying it sooner. This is an article about those things. The things that really do make life and health and cooking that much easier.

So welcome to our lazy, little dream kitchen and all the things that have changed our lives inside of it.

1. An ingenious Little 3-in-1 Salad Dressing Shaker

So simple. Yet so brilliant. We hear all the time how much sugar gets added to packaged salad dressings, but getting out the whisk and bowl and lemon juicer every time we want a fresh, yet scrumptious salad is admittedly a little too much for us most of the time. But with this, we just toss in some chefy olive oil, dijon, half a lemon we squoze straight into the jar, a little of THIS healthy honey, and some good salt and pepper, shake it around and drizzle! We also swear by THIS recipe which takes all of 37 seconds to make. And the best part is whatever we don’t use is all ready to be thrown in the fridge with zero dishes to spare.

2. This Veg Chopper That Feels Like A Toy

Ditto chopping veg. We just don’t have the time and patience to do it as much as we should. But having this admittedly very fun chopper around allows you to add like 4 extra veggies to your meal because you never would have taken the time to chop them otherwise. A recent favorite use? Plop a couple dollops of hummus on a plate, then use this little gadget to go to town on some cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, bell peps, and whatever fresh herb makes you happy (we like basil or dill) then throw it all on top of the hummus, and dip in THIS sliced, low-cal pita, and you will have a protein-rich snack to end all salt cravings.

3. This Fruit-Infusing Pitcher That Makes Water Taste Like It Came From A 5-Star Spa

We struggle hard to drink enough water, which is ludicrous because hydration is one of the laziest and most critical hacks to good health. But that non-taste of water makes us forget about it until we’re already thirsty, and therefore already dehydrated - a state that also makes us think we’re hungrier. But adding our fav fruits to the center of this jug in the morning makes a level of difference throughout the day that we struggle to convey. We want to drink water. We long to drink water. We pour it into our best water bottle and glug. We savor it in pretty glasses like a cocktail. Our favorite combinations thus far are lemon, mint, and cucumber (obvs) and nectarine and strawberry, which is a revelation. And because we’re much more hydrated, we’ve stopped confusing our thirst for hunger at 3:37PM every single day.

4. This Spray-On Olive Oil That Saves Us Hundreds Of Calories We Don’t Even taste

How often do we lose track of how much oil comes pouring out of the bottle? Well, every tablespoon of that oil has 120 calories, and while we are not trying to be at all diet-and-weight-loss focused, we like to savor and enjoy the calories we do consume, not just house them accidentally when we’re trying to eat healthy. And all that extra oil just isn’t often necessary for flavor. This spray bottle ensures we get a perfect, even coating on the veggies that we lazily toss in the oven and the salads we don’t want to go soggy with dressing.

5. This Phenomenal Thing That Instantly Turns Frozen Fruit Into Soft-Serve

We first saw one of these in person at a White Elephant holiday party where the gift was opened, and the entire room went mad, firing up to steal it. After seeing what it does, we get why. All you do is add frozen fruit, and out comes creamy, delicious, soft-serve. Just bananas, cinnamon, and vanilla equals bliss. If you’re a parent whose kids ask for sweets 37x a day, this will be your new best friend.

6. These Food Storage Containers You Can Cook Your Food In

If you’re like us, you actually like healthy food. You just don’t like all the extra time it takes to make it and store it and wash the dishes from it. These containers are not cheap, however they are famously non-toxic, and you can literally make your food inside the ceramic coated pans, wait for them to cool, and store them in those same pans - the lazy lunch-maker’s dream. Plus all the little ones are amazing for storing sauces and dressings. And, not that this matters as much, but it’s all so pretty that it makes us happy just to see this in our house. It’s the little things, what can we say?

7. The Non-Toxic Air Fryer

Listen, do we love the idea of gorgeous chicken nuggs, airy potato chips, and crispy chickpeas that may as well be croutons magically appearing on our plates without hours of work, gallons of oil, and a huge mess left behind? Of course! But all that convenience might come at a cost when the thing you’re cooking it all in is full of toxins. This one is made without PFAs and still preheats 70% faster and cooks up to 35% faster than a regular oven. It has all the good settings to get food just how you like it. Plus, and again we get this isn’t as important, but look how cute it is.

8. This Very Best Handheld Blender

Yes, you have seen handheld blenders before, but have any been this beautiful and powerful and portable rolled into one? We think not. It’s not the $30 version you buy from Walmart that breaks or smells like an engine overheating after 3 uses. This is the blender for adults who appreciate a good, silky smoothie (or sauce, soup, whatever) almost as much as they appreciate a piece of art sitting atop their counter.

Price: $139

9. This Handheld Blender That Makes Soups And Sauces A Synch

We see so many amazing-looking recipes on Instagram that we DM ourselves then ignore cause we’re not gonna move from a pan to a blender to a bowl etc. etc. And this is why we will not shut up about the godsend that is the immersion blender. Throw all your ingredients in a pot and once cooked, just toss this in there like a literal spoon, and it will all blend into the smoothest, dreamiest consistency. We do this with soups and sauces and curries, and now suddenly we’ve become people who MAKE soups and sauces and curries. It’s just life-changing, and we eat 5x more veggies because of it. See how HERE.
