We Bought The "Carrie" Dress And We're Wearing It To Every Wedding Until The End Of Time

WHAT: Norma Kamali Diana Dress

WHY: We all dream of dressing like Carrie Bradshaw. Of course we do. That’s 64% of the reason we watched SATC and AJLT in the first place (ok, 95% of the reason for AJLT).

Even when her outfits were…a tad ridiculous, they nevertheless inspired lust and convinced us all to move to New York and become freelance writers and apparently be able to afford designer clothes?

But. There was one dress on the reboot, And Just Like That, that went viral. You know the one. That soft, vibrant blue. The curve hugging shape. The flattering ruche that skims over the body with a gentle camouflage.

And unlike Carrie’s one-of-a-kind Vivenne Westwood wedding gown, this one we could actually own ourselves. So OBVIOUSLY we had to buy it! And friends? It does not disappoint.

Yes, it’s $215, which makes it a drop more expensive than the things we typically recommend on this site (like THESE $34 high waisted pants from Amazon).

But let’s not forget, this is not your daily t-shirt; it’s a dress for special occasions. And haven’t we been searching our entire lives for that fancy dress to wear to weddings and holiday parties that doesn’t make us feel terrible (and even, if we’re lucky, makes us feel amazing?). A dress that doesn’t force us to wear soul-sucking shapewear, or make us search for a bra that will somehow work with a low back, or show off parts of our knees that we prefer to subtly shield?

Well, THIS is that special occasion dress. Here’s why it’s worth every cent:

  • It’s shockingly comfortable. Getting it on does require a little wriggling (there’s a built-in-body-suit so you have to step into it), but once its on, it feels like nothing. And while we’d never recommend wriggling into a casual, loungey house dress or our everyday leggings, a bit of a wriggle for a fancy dress this comfortable is honestly worth it.

  • While ruching can sometimes come off a little old-fashioned, this ruching feels airy and light. Yet, it also elegantly hides any bumps without making us feel like we’re trapped in a corset.

  • The silhouette skims the body and nips in at the waist for a gorgeous hourglass, but it doesn’t feel “bodycon” at all.

  • It comes in both a shorter length AND a midi-to-full length, so you can show as much (or as little) leg as you desire.

  • It works perfectly with a strapless bra, or even, no bra at all. And there’s plenty of room in the top for larger-busted gals.

  • The. colors. are. amazing. Seriously, take a look at even more of them.

And the most amazing part? Not a single body part is hanging out or exposed, but we’ve never felt sexier.

PRICE: $215

P.S. We really wish there was more inclusive sizing, and more diverse body types in the product photography, but we do know that the sizing is relatively forgiving, and the dress looks gorgeous on curvier bodies, too.
