If you can summon Sally Albright’s bedroom in When Harry Met Sally from memory, you’re going to like this article.

If you cannot summon Sally Albright’s bedroom from memory, we have a lot of other nice articles that you’ll enjoy. Perhaps we can interest you in THIS?

For us, imagining cooking in a Nancy Meyers kitchen or lounging in a Santo Loquasto living room takes up 87% of our waking lives, and as such, we try to create the feeling of living inside of a movie as much as humanly possible. Being around potentially unnecessary but beautiful things in the home is one of the reasons we continue to participate in the workforce —if you don’t feel utterly charmed and moved and inspired by your everyday surroundings, what, pray tell, is the point?

And so we’ve curated a small smattering of some of our favorite movie-feeling pieces, some small, some weird, some twee, all of which are presently lurking in our carts, and in our homes.

We could have listed 437 items here, easy. But we narrowed it down to our 13 favorites because they all feel extra cinematic.

Let’s begin.

1. A ludicrously capacious wooden serving bowl

What: Quince Handcrafted XL Wooden Serving Bowl, 17"

An enormous bowl beckons us to make more salads. And more salads are healthier. Ergo, this bowl will save your life.

Price: $120

2. A pitcher into which orange juice is to be poured for all those sun-dappled, early-morning, full breakfasts you prepare for the family

What: Anthropologie Botanica Pitcher

Even if you just pour your orange juice into this pitcher for yourself, it makes it taste better. Ice water also works just as well.

Price: $68

3. And of course you need some rose-hued nubby glasses to serve that juice

What: Crate & Barrel Alma 10-Oz. Pink Double Old-Fashioned Glass

We’re just now realizing that this article could also have been called “a bunch of vessels and containers to hold stuff” but that wouldn’t have been as fun. A big gulp of (freshly squeezed) orange juice from this glass just “hits different” as the kids say.

Price: $8

4. A mismatched collection of bedding that Sally Albright would absolutely buy today

What: Quince European Linen Sheet Set and Schoolhouse Stillwater Floral Quilt

All white bedding can be cinematic when juxtaposed with a massive penthouse à la 9 1/2 weeks, but most of us prefer a cozier, homier bed-feel. And there is no bedroom in the history of film that achieves such a feeling more perfectly than this bedroom:

Stripes! Florals! Organic materials! Mismatched everything! To that end, we adore this wildly affordable striped sheet set from Quince (their home stuff is goooood):

Price: $140 - $200

And the slightly less affordable but truly one of a kind cotton quilt, which, if we lived in movie, we would store in a slightly dust-laden old chest at the foot of the bed:

Price: $199 - $279

5. Impossibly darling & Impractical ceramic berry containers

What: Anthropologie Floral Ceramic Berry Basket and Linnea Egg Crate

Back to unnecessary stuff that holds other stuff, omgomgomgomg how have we lived without these ceramic berry baskets? It feels like there is LBCBB and LACBB. Are they entirely practical? No. Does their cuteness encourage us to eat more berries and therefore consume more fiber which means we just basically reduced our risk of a stroke? Yes.

Price: $16

Oh, and while we’re on ceramic holders for the fridge, we also needed for you to observe this lilac colored egg crate. That’s all.

Price: $20

6. A melting disco ball sculpture that you will either love or hate

What: Reimagine Discovery Melted Disco Ball Decor

Have we seen this in a movie? No. But when the light hits it just right and a million twinkling fairy lights spray your walls and ceiling, does it feel instantly like you’re living inside your own movie in which you are perhaps a leggy magazine editor and an unstoppable one at that? You betcha.

Price: $50

7. An apron that inspires you to make homemade bread and perhaps smear some flour across your cheek

What: Piglet In Bed Picnic Alfresco Printed Linen Apron

Do you know this brand? Piglet in bed? It’s our new favorite thing. And this apron has single-handedly turned us into bakers. They wear them at home in the movies, but we forget about ours—mostly because it was a gross, stained, cardboard-stiff nightmare. But this one changed everything.

Price: $75

8. A nightgown that contains multitudes

What: Petite Plume™ Women's Chloe Nightgown

Women love wearing nightgowns in movies. Why don’t we? They’re sweet and girlish and sexy. And they’re wildly comfortable to sleep in. We’re making it our mission to bring back the nightgown this year. And there’s no brand we love more than Petite Plum.

Price: $84

9. A hallucinogenically soft & cozy blanket you can wrap around your person when dumped/crying/etc

What: Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket

We admit this is a splurge, but it’s one of our favorite splurges we’ve ever made. See the breathtaking depth of its pile HERE.

There is no blanket we have ever touched that’s felt like this. And when women have special blankets in their home, we are reminded of our own specialness. One might even say “main character energy.”
